Care

Elppin is the first magnetic nipple brooch ever - also possibly the first nipple brooch ever. We invented a sophisticated, stress free nipple sensitive clasp for our brooches so that you don’t have to worry about pins or pricks close to your nips. We make it easy for you to clip the brooch on and drag it into your desired place with our strong magnets.

They are magic, we promise - some people even claim they have medicinal qualities.

Our magnets are the strongest on the market, but we still recommend that you wear one layer of thin apparel between the magnetic backing, and the front of the Elppin brooch. Because your Elppin is incredibly magnetic (yes, metaphorically too) watch out for necklaces, scarves, and other metal jewelry – all of which may be attracted to your Elppin.

Place the magnetic backing inside your shirt, (silver color facing out) in front of your nipple. Take your Elppin brooch (nipple facing out), and drop it into place. You should feel a magnetic pull that allows for a seamless connection with the Elppin backing.

For a perkier fit on loose clothing, place the Elppin backing inside your foam free bra.

Our gold plate is 22k gold - micron plated is the real deal. Like all plating, it’s slightly susceptible to time’s touch. Clean your gold plated Elppin jewelry by buffing gently with a dry cloth and and always store it somewhere safe. Re-plating will deliver your Elppin back to its original shiny glory, so if that’s your heart’s desire, contact your local jeweler, or e-mail us for deets!

With silver and brass particularly, a uniquely “you” patina develops slowly over time as it interacts with your body. If you’re into this (like we are) then watch and admire its character change slowly with you. For more shine, we recommend polishing naturally, with paste of baking soda and lemon. Brass or silver polish (such as Brasso or Goddards available at local hardware stores) also work well!

All of our ear posts and ear backs are hypoallergenic (925) sterling silver, so you don’t have to worry about cheap, potentially harmful metals against your skin. Many metal sensitivities are actually allergies to nickel, so to keep you safe, our gold-plating process is 100% nickel free!

Silver is a soft metal and can bend with pressure, so be sure to store properly, especially while in transit. You can gently bend the ear post back to its original position with your fingers. To reduce scratching and unwanted scrapes, keep your Elppin nestled in fabrics - far away from keys in your purse. Silver especially does not jive with sweat and water, so remove it before exercising or showering or swimming. However, the oils from your skin do protect against the oxidation process, so wear them often!
